'Mini-Mate Mini-Jeux'
What do these have to do with mode changing robots?! Pretty much nothing.
Redbox (contacted and declined comment) on the outside appear to be a side company of Blue-Box Toys that distributes mostly games, early learning toys and pretend play items.
In 1977 Redbox distributed a series of colourful handheld skill or chance games that they continued to re-issue over and over under different toy line names for almost two decades. What's it got to do with Androform? While speculation, it's likley because Blue-Box already owned the Androfom name and this saved registering another property.
While in other distributions many of the games saw the same game released with various background images, the same doesn't appear to be the case for the Androform run. So far Lucky Ball is the only example sighted on Androform card that has more than one background sheet. Regardless whether the blister card front is the generic, French or specific Woolworth printed version, the back of the cards are identical with the same barcode.
Minimate or Mini-Mate? Mini-Mate is printed on some of the games, while either Mini-Mate or Minimate is printed on the cards. It's unclear why.
See Androform main index for more general details.
